Description: Glycoderm P,the uppermost layer of the epidermis, the Stratum Corneum, can be described as a two-compartment system in which corneocytes can be analogized to bricks, and intercellular lipid membranes to mortar (2,3). Dry skin is rough and fissured, which is due to an impaired lipid barrier and an insufficient water-binding capacity of the corneocytes. Glycoderm P is a polyvalent moisturizer with long-lasting effect. This effect is produced by synergism of three active ingredients, which are combined in a vector system and, in conformity with the brick and mortar model. Ceramide, containing plant derived lipids in lamellar structure, is helping to restore the lipid barrier in the Stratum Corneum of dry skin. Biotechnologically produced hyaluronic acid forms a moisture film with affinity for the skin, due to its anionic character and its water binding capacity. Blossom honey, as part of the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), enhances the water binding capacity of the corneocytes. These three active ingredients are combined in liposomes to form the active complex Glycoderm P.
